On August 27th, local time in Bahia, Brazil, the inauguration ceremony of Goldwind’s Wind Equipment Manufacturing Base in Brazil was held successfully. The event was attended and addressed by guests including the Minister of Mining and Energy of the Brazilian Federal Government, Alexandre Silveira, the Governor of Bahia, Jerônimo Rodrigues, the Chinese Consul General in Rio de Janeiro, Tian Min, and the President of Goldwind, Cao Zhigang.
Goldwind Brazil Wind Equipment Manufacturing Base
The manufacturing base is located in Camaçari, Bahia, covering an area of about 50,000 square meters with a production area of over 10,000 square meters. Equipped with a pulse assembly line, it will produce the GWH182 series of medium-speed permanent magnet turbines with an expected annual capacity of 150 units. The base will create more than 100 direct jobs and thousands of indirect jobs in the local area.
The GWH182 series are the world’s first onshore wind turbine with rotor diameters exceeding 180 meters to receive DNV type certification and is suitable for various scenarios, especially in the northeastern and southern regions of Brazil. In the first quarter of 2024, the series also received the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification under the EPD Italy system issued by ICMQ, with a carbon emission of only 3.72-4.41 grams per kilowatt-hour over its entire lifecycle, making it a representative green equipment.

Minister Alexandre Silveira stated that the Brazilian government is deeply concerned with the development of the new energy industry and has ensured an investment of 60 billion reais in transmission lines through auctions. The Programa de Aceleração do Crescimento (PAC) launched by the Brazilian government expects investments in renewable energy generation to exceed 75 billion reais by 2026. With the establishment of a company and factory in Brazil, Goldwind has significantly bolstered the nation’s economy and job market. There is great appreciation for Goldwind’s decision to back Brazil’s sustainable development initiatives.
